Consider the following example on Convert Fraction To Percent:

(i) 20%

[We know % = 1/100]

= 20/100

[Now we need to reduce 20/100 to its lowest term]

= 20/100 ÷ 20/20

[Divide both the numerator and denominator by 20]

= 1/5

(ii) 6%

[We know % = 1/100]

= 6/100

[Now we need to reduce 6/100 to its lowest term]

= 6/100 ÷ 2/2

[Divide both the numerator and denominator by 2]

= 3/50

(iii) 150%

[We know % = 1/100]

= 150/100

[Now we need to reduce 150/100 to its lowest term]

= 150/100 ÷ 50/50

[Divide both the numerator and denominator by 50]

= \(\frac{3}{2}\)

= 1\(\frac{1}{2}\)

(iv) 48%

[We know % = 1/100]

= 48/100

[Now we need to reduce 48/100 to its lowest term]

= 48/100 ÷ 4/4

[Divide both the numerator and denominator by 4]

= 12/25

(v) 92%

[We know % = 1/100]

= 92/100

[Now we need to reduce 92/100 to its lowest term]

= 92/100 ÷ 4/4

[Divide both the numerator and denominator by 4]

= 23/25

(vi) 25%

[We know % = 1/100]

= 25/100

[Now we need to reduce 25/100 to its lowest term]

= 25/100 ÷ 25/25

[Divide both the numerator and denominator by 25]

= 1/4

(vii) Express 42% as fraction.

Solution:

42%

= 42 × \(\frac{1}{100}\)

\(\frac{42}{100}\)

Divide numerator and denominator by 2, we get

= \(\frac{21}{50}\)

Therefore, 42% = \(\frac{21}{50}\)

Converting Fractions to Percentages

(viii) Express 66\(\frac{2}{3}\)% as a fraction:

Solution:

66\(\frac{2}{3}\)%

= \(\frac{(66 × 3) + 2}{3}\)%

\(\frac{198 + 2}{3}\)%

= \(\frac{200}{3}\)%

= \(\frac{200}{3}\) × \(\frac{1}{100}\)

= \(\frac{200}{300}\)

= \(\frac{2}{3}\)
