In Multiplication of Whole Numbers Worksheet you will get different types of problems on properties of multiplication of whole numbers, multiplication of whole numbers on a number line and word problems on multiplication of whole numbers.
1. Find the product by grouping suitably: 20 × 3456 × 5.
Solution:
20 × 3456 × 5
= (20 × 5) × 3456; [Rearranging the numbers in suitable order]
= 100 × 3456
= 3,45,600
2. Find the product: 125 × 12 × 243 × 16.
Solution:
= (125 × 16) × (12 × 243) [Rearranging the numbers in suitable order]
= 2000 × 2916
= 58,32,000
3. Find the value of 345 × 67 + 345 × 33 using the distributive property.
Solution:
345 × 67 + 345 × 33
= 345 × (67 + 33); [Using distributive property]
= 345 × 100
= 34,500
4. Find the value of 789 × 78 + 789 × 15 + 789 × 7
Solution:
789 × 78 + 789 × 15 + 789 × 7
= 789 × (78 + 15 + 7); [Using distributive property of multiplication]
= 789 × 100
= 78,900
5. Multiply 35 × 192 using the properties of multiplication.
Solution:
35 × 192
= 35 × (200 – 8); [Writing 192 as 200 – 8]
= 35 × 200 – 35 × 8; [Using distributive property of multiplication of whole numbers]
= 7,000 – 280
= 6,720
6. Verify the associative property of multiplication for whole numbers 15, 20 and 40.
Solution:
We have the whole numbers 15, 20 and 40.
Hence, verified.
7. Use distributive property to simplify the following:
(i) 193 × 2035
(ii) 499 × 9831
Solution:
(i) 193 × 2035
= (200 – 7) × 2035; [Using distributive property]
= 200 × 2035 – 7 × 2035
= 407000 – 14245
= 3,92,755
(ii) 499 × 9831
= (500 – 1) × 9831; [Using distributive property]
= 500 × 9831 – 1 × 9831
= 4915500 – 9831
= 49,05,669
8. What is the product of the greatest 5-digit number and the smallest 7-digit number?
Solution:
The greatest 5-digit number = 99999
The smallest 7-digit number 1000000
Product = 99999 × 1000000 = 99999000000
Hence, the product is 99,99,90,00,000.
