In worksheet on rounding off number we will solve 10 different types of problems.

I. Rounding Off to the Nearest Ten:

To round off a number to the nearest 10, we look at the digit at the ones place. If it is equal or more than 5, we replace it by 0 and increase the tens digit by 1. If the ones digit is less than 5, replace it by 0 and keep the tens digit as it is. In both the cases, the remaining digits (If any) of the number remain unchanged.

II. Rounding Off to the Nearest Hundred:

To round off a number to the nearest 100, we look at the digit at tens place. If it is less than 5, we replace it and the ones digit by zero. If it is equal to or more than 5, we replace each of the digits at ones and tens places by 0 and add 1 to digit at hundreds place. In both cases, the remaining digits (if any) of the number remain unchanged.

III. Rounding Off to the Nearest Thousand:

To round off a number to the nearest 1000, we look at the digit at hundreds place. If it is equal to or greater than 5, replace it along with ones and tens digits by zeroes, and increase the digit at thousands place by 1. If the digit at the hundreds place is less than 5, replace each of thi digits at hundreds, tens and ones places by 0. In both the cases, the remaining digits remai unchanged.
